2010 Sectionals

The longer I put this off, the easier and harder it gets to write, and as my memory fades, the heartache of the season's end does as well. Sooo, let's start with Sectionals.

Sectionals proved to be the nicest weather that West Plains Section has ever seen! Scorned came out strong, with the longest (2 hour) warm up time in WS history. We came up against Luther for our first game. The game was not close, but Luther's flying/fighting Squirrels (just kidding, they don't actually have a team name) put up a great fight. The final score ended up 13-6 WS taking the victory.

The second game was against Grinnell. To be honest, I was completely impressed with Sticky Tongue's performance. The team has come a long way since we played them last, and they also put up a great fight and showed true flow as a team. This program is really coming along and I expect great things from them in the near future. Final score 13-5.

While we were battling Grinnell, Luther upset Iowa in the game next to ours. The last game of the day was versus Iowa. In order to take the Sectional title and be done with games, we had no option other than victory. Saucy came out with the same rage that we have seen from them all year. They continued with the same flowy offense that has challenged us all season and once again gave Scorned a true challenge. WS fought hard, and sideline cheers were utilized to their fullest (including Misra's megaphone which he allowed us to borrow). Although Saucy was up for a large part of the game, Scorned showed their true fury and fought back to take the game and the title, with a score of 10-8.

Sectionals was followed up with a great gathering of sectionals teams at the Wood St house. Many of the Iowa ladies crashed at Scorned households, and a good time was had by all.
