So the U-23 World Championship Teams were announced recently…

…And Woman Scorned is extremely excited because Magon Liu, Sarah Pesch, Becca Miller, and Cami Nelson were all selected for the U-23 teams! Scorned is very proud of these four exceptional ladies and would like to give them a huge congratulations! The fact that they were chosen to try out (an impressive feat on its own) and all made the team shows how incredible these women are. We’re sure they would agree that their accomplishment is also a huge testament to our coaches and all the alumni who have helped build Scorned into such a strong and continually developing program.

Playing on a nationally ranked team requires a certain amount of commitment from everybody, but these ladies go above and beyond that commitment. They not only work tirelessly to make their game better, but they work just as hard to help others on the team improve. These ladies have taken the term “WS love” (woman scorned love) to the next level. Their love for the team, competition, each other, and every person’s potential shows every time they step onto the field. They’re all phenomenal leaders who are able to change their game to adapt to every environment. But as for individual attributes, here’s a rundown of what U-23 should be ready for:

Magon and Becca are our fearless captains; they lead us, teach us, and motivate us. Both are hella fast and extremely talented cutters. Mag’s unbelievably sick layouts and high release backhand spark fear in our opponents. Becca’s incredible bids and her ability to sky the shit out of everyone make her pretty deadly. Pesch is a ridiculously great handler who has a very commanding field presence. She’s an invaluable player who is calm and consistent, and her hammers make Thor look like a cute, little kitten. Cami (#FOTY #shouty) has amazing defense all over the field, skies people all day, and is a very strong cutter who brings a high level of intensity to the field. She also happens to be one of the team’s greatest bubble blowers and is absolutely boss at karaoke.

Most importantly, however, these women are exceptional teammates and friends. Having any one of these girls on a line makes that line so much stronger, and we can’t wait to see them FSU in Toronto this summer!
